Our Team’s Credentials And Experience

We are composed of degreed engineers and technicians. Our team has many years of factory training and hands-on experience in power supply failure diagnosis. We are trained in ISO and Total Quality Management (TQM).

Our Standard Protocols On-Site

All of our service personnel and benches are grounded to prevent electrostatic discharge (ESD). We utilize solid-state adjustable load banks to test your power supply's outputs from minimum load to full load and beyond.

We employ variable AC input transformers to test your power supply at both low-line and high-line voltage conditions. Output ripple and noise on each output of your power supply are also monitored to ensure clean DC outputs.

Common Problems With Power Supplies

Electrolytic Capacitor Failures

This is one of the main causes of power supply problems. After five years of being in use, these capacitors will tend to fail. It can cause a completely dead power supply, noisy outputs, or catastrophic failures in the high-voltage inverter section.

Fan Failures

Another common problem with older power supplies is fan failure. When it happens, the power supply can easily overheat. It can cause anything from dried-out capacitors to blown semiconductors and possibly fire. If your power supply is more than 5 years old, we strongly recommend that you have it refurbished.

Refurbishing Power Supplies

In this service, we replace all electrolytic capacitors, overheated components, burned wiring, and fans. We also inspect all PC boards and reflow any suspect solder joints as needed. Our technicians will also repair cosmetic damages whenever possible.

Free Estimates

If you choose to have your power supply refurbished, we will perform a parts and labor estimate for free upon receipt of the unit. We will then contact you for price approval before we begin work on your equipment. This service comes with a
30-month warranty.

Power Supply Repairs

In our repair process, we use computer-grade low ESR capacitors and original semiconductor replacement parts. If the original components are no longer available or difficult to obtain in a timely manner, we use “equal or better” alternative components. Our component stock is kept in sealed ESD-safe containers until ready for use. After your power supply repair is completed, it is burned in at full load for a minimum of eight hours before being returned to you.

Choosing the Right Service

Refurbishment costs more than a straight repair because of the number of parts replaced and labor involved. If you opt for a straight repair, you will initially save money to get your power supply operational again. However, if your unit fails later on because of an issue that a refurbishment can prevent, then your unit might become nonrepairable. This can become a major issue if it is out of production and replacement units are not available.

Pricing and Payment

Power-Medic strives to offer the lowest flat-rate pricing in the industry. We also give volume discounts. Our prices depend on the output wattage and design complexity* of the power supply. Through this, we can easily provide quotes over the phone. If your power supply model is not in our database, we may ask you to send it to us for a free evaluation so we can provide you with an informed repair quote.

We do not charge for nonrepairable power supplies. You will only pay return shipping costs if you would like the unit sent back to you. Additionally, you can request us to find a replacement unit for you free of charge.

*Important Note:

Please be advised that additional charges may apply to cover high-cost replacement parts, such as power modules, transformers, or large filter capacitors. We will seek your approval before completing these repairs.
